For beginners, cold press papers are excellent as they hold up better to washes and offer a slight texture ideal for most techniques. They are perfect for the Moroccan climate which can sometimes be dry.

Tube paints are more concentrated and offer more intense color, ideal for large washes and refilling palettes. Pan paints are more practical for transport and outdoor work, perfect for nomadic artists in Morocco who want to paint on the go, for example in the souks or on the coasts.

To get started, a set of good quality watercolor paints (pans or tubes), an assortment of synthetic or kolinsky sable brushes (in a few varied sizes), a block of dedicated watercolor paper, a palette for mixing colors, a water pot, and possibly masking tape will be your allies.

To protect your creations, we recommend using fixative sprays specifically designed for watercolors, which offer protection against water and UV rays. Framing under glass with a mat is also an excellent method for preserving the artwork from dust and ambient humidity.
